沖縄にめんそれ Hello everyone! I am so excited for this blog post as I get to share a bit about one of my hometowns with you. Okinawa is a very special place to me as I lived there for four years (2017年–2021年) and during my peak adolescent years (九歳–十三歳).  Okinawa is one of the Ryukyu islands and is well known for its beautiful beaches and amazing Okinawan culture. Most Okinawans don't necessarily consider themselves Japanese as their language and culture is distinct. For instance, I learned some 沖縄口 (ウチナグチ), Okinawan language, during my time there. My Japanese is a bit different from more common forms of Japanese as I use words such as "めんそれ (welcome)," ”ナンクルナイサ (everything will be okay)," and ”はいさい (hello)." While writing this post, I actually found out through my sister that "めんそれ" is not really used in mainland Japan, which really shocked me. I guess I use a bit of Okinawan dialect when I speak Japanese. Besides langauge, Okinawa has distinct foods and d...

Hello everyone! For today's homework I wanted to show you all the Nagano snow monkey park. In 2020, my family and I went to Jigokudani Monkey Park. It was incredibly fun! My family and I took a lot of photos and I wanted to share them with you all! I went in December and, unlike this video, there were not a lot of people visiting the park at the time. It is very cool to see the rise in tourism for this park. The monkeys were incredibly cute and funny to watch. In this video, in particular, the Buddhist monkeys had me laughing. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this video and the photos I have included! ありがとう! しゃしん:

こんにちは! For this blog assignment, I wanted to share a video/song that I used to listen to 24/7 when I lived in Japan. This song is actually a remix of the original version and is sung by まぐろたにぐち of KANA-BOON. However, I really enjoy this version with Necry Talkie because it really helps encapsulate the meaning of the song! My sister and I loved to put this on the family TV and sing along, so this song is very dear to me. What I like most about this song is the repetition of onomatopoeia with ”ゆらゆら” and the artists' pronunciation of words like ”はなればなれ.” Furthermore, I used to, and still do, find it hilarious when the random man comes in to do the two claps in the middle of the song. I really hope you guys enjoy this song as much as I do. このうたがだいすき!
